Service Project List

In addition to contributing to the programs sponsored by the Rotary Foundation, recent community service projects our club has implemented or organizations that our club has been able to provide with financial and service support, either on a one-time or on-going basis include:

Service Projects in Our Local Caldwell Area Community

  • Donated $33,000 toward purchase of new emergency response vehicle for West Essex First Aid Squad (in addition to on-going support)
  • Caldwell/West Caldwell School System – Scholarships, Project Graduation, Intergeneration Prom and Special School Projects (on-going support)
  • Interact Club – youth service organization at JCHS that builds leadership skills, international understanding and community service (on-going support).
  • Grover Cleveland Birthplace – lighting project in 2007 (in addition to on-going support)
  • Dictionary Project - providing all third graders in our community with dictionaries (on-going project)
  • North Essex Camp Fund – summer camp for underprivileged children in our local community (on-going support)
  • West Caldwell Library – art mural in Children's Room (also donated various types of equipment and video tapes)
  • Relocation assistance for family of fire victims on Hanford Place, Caldwell
  • DVRT (Domestic Violence Response Team) – provided funds for education and awareness in the schools
  • Built and maintained two bus shelters in Caldwell
  • Donated a bulletin board to the Township of West Caldwell
  • Outfitted all of the school crossing guards in Caldwell West Caldwell, and Essex fells with radio equipment for a safer community - 27 in total
  • Caldwell Police theft program with bike ID
  • Flag polls and bench in Crane park in memory of a member
  • Flag polls in each community located at their municipal buildings
  • Tree replacement on Mascarri Lane (Caldwell) in memory of the M I A
  • Desert Shield – supported four area military serving in the war
  • Donated video equipment to the Caldwell Fire Department
  • Donated new lockers and car seats to the Caldwell Police Department
  • Donated defibulators and related equipment to the Caldwell Community Center, local police and first aid departments
  • Sponsorship of several Little League baseball teams in Caldwell area
  • Various anonymous donations to local families in need

Service in the State of New Jersey and Nationally

  • Camp Merry Heart – financial and hands-on support for summer camp in Hackettstown for severely handicapped children (ongoing district project)
  • School supplies for children in Irvington, NJ
  • Harmony Day Care Center playground donation
  • Financial Support for New Jersey Flood Victims
  • Contributions to the New Jersey Food Bank (on-going)
  • $10,000 Katrina Relief – Donation to rebuild youth center in Mississippi and relocation expenses for ten families in September of 2005

International Service Projects

  • Gift of Life Foundation - surgery for underprivileged children with life threatening heart conditions
  • International "Help the Children Hear" Project - providing hearing aids to underprivileged children with hearing disabilities (on-going club project)
  • Participation in Rotary International’s initiative to eradicate Polio worldwide
  • Tsunami Relief in 2004 to Sri Lanka via the Shelter Box Project
